Ultraviolet Protection Factor

ULTRAVIOLET PROTECTION FACTOR (UPF)

Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) is an important measurement to reflect the effectiveness of a product’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

In simplified context, a UPF rating of 50 means that it takes 50x longer time exposure to the same UV; approximately 1/25th (or 4%) of the UV radiation penetrating the fabric. The UPF of SK SKINCARE FILM® is in excess of 1000, providing maximum UV protection for your skin.

Unlike SPF (Sun Protection Factor) measurements that traditionally use human sunburn testing, UPF is measured using with artificial light source, and then applying Aerythemal UV Index across the UV wavelengths, including UV-A and UV-B, to understand the skin’s response at various wavelengths.
